We use this bit for coarse removal of material underneath the antler.  

For example on a Large 1 1/4” pedicle we would draw a 1 1/4” circle for reference and start with this bit to create our concave recess.  This method will allow the antler to slide over the pedicle slightly which hides the seams and nearly eliminates finish work.

Use a cylinder shaped bit with a flat bottom to finish your edges.
